LOL. I don't know what your beef is with me, because you certainly don't know me. You keep confusing me with someone who listens to a radio program and saying that I call into it....but I rarely listen to the radio, and have never called in to any program, ever.
And I really don't understand how you can make a blanket statement about how I feel about Dr. s, as I doubt if I have ever said one word about it.....either way.
But just for the record, I fully acknowledge that Dr S, and martin hall in general, have not done a good enough job in our branding efforts.
You feel better now?
Haack took 2 HUGE hits trying to prove he can run on Saturday. He won't last the season doing that. Thats why we have Nixon. And despite what some may believe, we haven't seen the last of Nixon this year. There will be games where we will have better success operating the zone read With Nixon. That said, this offense will be awfully tough to stop if Haack continues to pass well, Eli does his thing, and Nixon comes in and makes plays off the bench. Defense needs to step up the game.
Luke, what would it take for us to hire you as our SID?
No doubt he needs to get better at avoiding the big hit, if possible. But he's not alone there, the running quarterback Nixon got hit so hard he's been out. I fully agree with your last sentence and think you are right we will see Nixon when the defense and game situations dictate. Haack's throwing ability gives our offense more upside than a running quarterback in my opinion. But it requires more precision, which can only be honed if he is the starter and gets the bulk of the playing time. Nixon's game lends itself more easily to coming off the bench on a moments notice. Given how seldom any QB lasts the whole season, having both options, and in particular a guy like Nixon who is able to perform at a high level coming in cold is quite an advantage.
You are right, I don't know who you are but I've read enough of your post on this topic to suggest to me that your antagonistic comments towards a beat writer are unwarranted. The guy has given UL outstanding coverage and writes great articles. He has no control over what his editor does with the article once it is submitted. I also know that you have chastised certain Cajun fans for doing the same thing when it comes to UL decision makers without knowing all the facts and here clearly you are guilty of the same thing. In this case you do know that Luke Johnson has nothing to do with the Advocate's policy on calling UL, Louisiana-Lafayette, yet you and Boomer continue this nonsense.
Bad use of Lafayette. Great writing. I think Lukes writing is a much bigger positive than the few name issues.
I'm sure teams will always sellout to stop our ground game and we will have to make them pay through the air.
Luke tweeted a stat early this week that we are 16 of 19 for 276 on 1st down passes and all pass plays of 25+ yards have come on 1st down.
But he didn't get hurt, and he will learn from it. There is no doubt we will see Nixon and I'm fine with that, for 3 years Haack has been talked about like he is a statue.. He isn't. He can run plenty well enough to hurt you and pick up first downs or gain yards on busted plays.
