Thread: Julie Simon-Dronet joins Cox

    1) Kathleen Thames will not push the envelope! In fact she may seal it.

    2) I have tailgated with Mr. Dronet and Julie a few times after games and she is very nice away from her job.

    3) I do wish UL's KRVS would at least follow the FCC directive for radio stations. They only have to give their official name and location at the top of the hour not at every break or mention.

I think both Julie and Kathleen do no more than follow directives given them by the President. Dr. A was a micro-manager. Dr. S is, as I am led to believe, an empowerer. He needs to make a statement about our use of UL and Louisiana, then let Kathleen proceed. In the absence of that, she will continue as usual and EVERYTHING will be The University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

At some point, you would think the President would understand the need to Brand ourselves as UL and Louisiana and the huge amount of revenue that is lost from our inability to sell marketable merchandise with the Lafayette tag. After 10 years of this continuing identity struggle, why not take a firm stance athletically. We may always be The University of Louisiana at Lafayette academically, but athletically we need to be UL and Louisiana, period. And it that reference rolls over to the academic side, so be it. Our official name will not be changed, just like all of the other schools so typically referenced, Texas (Austin), Wisconsin (Madison), Nebraska (Lincoln), North Carolina (Chapel Hill), etc.

I was speaking collectively---referring to "WE" as the Cajun populus including news releases---As all of us know the sans Lafayette or echo L was always included in the release!!!!
