We have land that can be utilized and should be utilized for dorms and future classrooms. The research park, Blackham area and fraternity row areas could all be better utilized.

Honestly we should build more dorms around the athletic complex. Put an additional 3500-5000 beds within walking distance of Cajun Field and we could possibly increase student attendance for all sports.

You're certainly right, but tuition has been going up over the last 10 years. We will see what effect this most recent increase has in the next few. I think perception and expectation play a large part in attracting more highly qualified students.

I believe we still have among the lowest tuition in the state, certainly lower than LA Tech and LSU. And lower than schools in adjacent states. I recall an article where Dr. S took pride in UL's ability to offer the best education at the lowest price. Just think of how much more the university could do with higher tuition dollars that just matched LA Tech or LSU.

Our increase was to bring us in line with LTUR I think.

if we are in same system with la tech why would there be different tuitions. shouldn't tuition plus state funding be an equal amount per student. so if tuition is higher at one place why isnt state funding lowered to make the total equal? also if one school spends more of their academic money on athletics it seems like that would be an easy target for a budget cut.

We should match La Tech's tuition within 4 years.

From an athletics budgeting perspective..........if T-Joe-L remains steadfast stubborn as he is today against matching Tech's 3% commitment, what will that achieve?

True tuition would be higher.....if T-Joe-L doesn't make the same 3% commitment as the LTUR President to athletics, what you have is more students with a higher tuition. Athletics doesn't gain squat financially from the growth in enrollment & tuition increases. Nothing. Nada.

Why would it take another 4 years to match LA Tech's tuition? Why is it not the same now? Entrance requirements should be the same. If we charged the same tuition, the 3% allowed for athletics would be higher, thus increasing our budget even if Dr. S withholds some of it.

We will see a continued increase in tuition over a 4 or 5 year period until we are equal to the other two Statewide recognized institutions la Tech and UNO. If i remember correctly we will see a 20% increase in each of the next 4 years.

Why are we so far behind and why were tuition increases approved for them in the past and not for UL?

We always wanted to be the cheapest. We undervalue everything at this university.
