Room for improvement for Cajuns

With one 2015 game in the books, and a second coming Saturday night at home against Southland Conference-member Northwestern State, UL coach Mark Hudspeth's benefit-of-hindsight read on the decision seems like a bit of a split decision.

I was thinking just this point.

The two players that were not up to game speed were the two players held back in preparing.

I don't think Eli was anything but his normal self. The third down spin in the 4th quarter to extend the drive was a move that hasn't often graced Cajun players. UKs entire strategy was to stop him. 9 guys keyed in him 95% of the snaps. He still broke 100 total yards against a team with SEC caliber speed and ability.

As for Robinson, he's always dropped passes and ran bad routes. He just makes up for it with size and strength. He couldn't rely on that against SEC quality.

Yea, as far as im concerned, the only thing negative about Eli was the muffed punt and the fact that they didn't incorporate him into the passing game more (which is not on Eli). He showed what he can do on that wheel route and we've GOT to get him touches through the air

I thought he played the role of bruiser extremely well. He got some tough tough yards to extend drives

I wish Walt Williams could have kept his head on straight... I think he could have helped with some of the short yardage runs.

Last year vs a very good Ole Miss team Elijah had 87 yards on 12 touches. Ole Miss was a team that was keying on the run because they didn't feel threatened by the pass.

Even without the threat of the 2015 passing EM averaged 6.6 yards a carry. vs Ole Miss.

This year the UL averaged 5.3 overall but Eli averaged 3.2
Last year UL averaged 5.2 and Eli averaged 6.6

I'm just saying he was not up to his old self/game speed and he like Robinson was held back in preparing according to Hud.

I disagree on the Prophet. Eli performed well in the role he was given, to replace Harris. He picked up 3-5 yards when it was needed, just like Harris did. I was really disapointed that he did not have an opportunity to do what he is good at because he was running up the middle every play. This was not his fault and it had nothing to do with not practicing. I have a feeling he will have a career night this weekend.

I guess I will take solace in the thought that Hud agrees with me, or visa versa.

I also think last week will give him the conditioning he missed in camp.
