If Robinson doesn't fumble or give up on TD, if Eli doesn't muff punt, riles doesn't drop a first down and Gordon doesn't false start... We might not have seen Nixon at all. Or maybe if those things don't happen we see Nixon in mop up duty. Haack still played great despite those things.
Based on what logic do we see Nixon early? I'm not saying we won't. But why do you think so? Shift in coach's confidence? It being NSU and taking the lower risk route (ie more ground than aerial)? Why wouldn't we allow Haack the opportunity... after not having failed against the best defense he'll see this year... against perhaps the worst defense he'll see this year?
I hope you're wrong. I want to see Haack further mature with the skill players... making plays with his arm all over the field... leading into the Tech game... and the best the SBC has to offer. If he clearly can't find success against NSU, pull him for Nixon. But the guy won the start from preseason... and nothing he did lost the start for him at Kentucky.
Perfect world, we get a huge lead and Jordan Davis can get some snaps at the end.
I don't know who we is, but that not good logic, last year, our opponents loaded the box because we could not throw past 10 yards. Hack had a great game, take away the drops and bad routes he had a great game. So we tie game kick to KY, three and out get the ball back with 7 minutes on clock.....3 and out.
How about nixon on third down and short , or on the goal line
Both styles can work. When Desormeaux and Fenroy were in the backfield Des was not a great passer probably comparable to Nixon in passing ability. Des and Fen broke single game all time total offensive yards in the history of the school 4 times that year running read option. They faced many D's that tried stacking the box. Nixon is probably closer to Des in running than TB was.
