IMO if you bring in Nixon for 1 or 2 drives a game or "occasionally" that's a 2 QB system. If Nixon is a back up and comes in only because BH is hurt or can't go for some reason then that's not. For example how many times did you see TBs back up, only when he couldn't go, that's a one QB system.
IMO I like the idea of JN getting 2-3 series a game. 2 good QBs with different skill sets can be very effective.
Which QB has the strongest arm with the most zip??? Which is faster??? Which has the best completion percentage??? Which QB gives the dual threat to help the running game and can pass very well (100%)??? I love the speed option, or giving to the RB off the fake, or having a third option of a load coming with the QB---think I have seen passing after this also---I love the read option, I love the regular option, and I love when Nixon rolls out of the pocket to pass or run----We talked about it before the game and felt that the backup should be Haack since he is the desperation guy for passes!!! So last week N'Western played horribly on defense against the run, so who would be the better choice to start against them??? Here we go!!!
Haack sets the tone, Nixon change of pace.
Don't care, just win.
I will disagree with your last paragraph. The offense's ability to execute was not helped, at all, in the second half by the defense. With all of the plays we gave up on defense in the first half, we were still tied or ahead of UK in time of possession at halftime as our offense did move the ball in the first half. They just couldn't finish it off or we had horrible penalties or turnovers that killed drives.
Our defense played better in the second half because the coaches did a great job of making adjustments and the players just settled down. The same can be said for the offense but you can't underestimate the effect that Nixon had on finishing drives and executing the offense which is why you saw him for most of the second half.
If Robinson doesn't fumble or give up on TD, if Eli doesn't muff punt, riles doesn't drop a first down and Gordon doesn't false start... We might not have seen Nixon at all. Or maybe if those things don't happen we see Nixon in mop up duty. Haack still played great despite those things.
Based on what logic do we see Nixon early? I'm not saying we won't. But why do you think so? Shift in coach's confidence? It being NSU and taking the lower risk route (ie more ground than aerial)? Why wouldn't we allow Haack the opportunity... after not having failed against the best defense he'll see this year... against perhaps the worst defense he'll see this year?
I hope you're wrong. I want to see Haack further mature with the skill players... making plays with his arm all over the field... leading into the Tech game... and the best the SBC has to offer. If he clearly can't find success against NSU, pull him for Nixon. But the guy won the start from preseason... and nothing he did lost the start for him at Kentucky.
