---We need an addendum of this asap and make sure that we add at least 5K as the student attendance-----When the att figures are put together with the crowd number after the season, this will just be part of a deflated Cajun figure!!! This hurts recruiting and any other bragging rights that go with our crowd size!!! I once made up a saying that "a picture is worth a thousand words---unless photo shopped"!!! LOL

John Dugas is right next to me during games. I am normally the first person to get the attendance figure. He wrote down "paid attendance" and that was the number reported.

Here is what goes into paid attendance:

    Tickets sold
    Player Pass tickets
    students
    anything sold at the union
    comp tickets (those aren't many)

    NOT included in count
    Band(s)
    Cheerleaders,
    Jazz
    Concession workers,
    Event staff
    Security

    And stuff like that.

Seating capacity at Cajun Field is officially listed at 36,900.

Having gotten a good look from above I can tell you:

South End zone was about 50% capacity.
Upper deck had a LOT of empty seats.
While there were empty chairbacks on the first level, most of those are season ticket no shows which are counted in the attendance figure.

Now, here is something you may not be aware of:

Virtually every school calculates non chairback seating capacity as allowing 18 inches per seat. In today's society, seating capacity is not, in reality, 36,900.

Because if you allow 18 inches and put Hawk, Hammer, Z, Turbine and me side by side I guarantee you that's more than five seats.

That is part of the reason why the stadium appears to be closer to capacity than it really is.

Hope the info helps everyone understand

PS--There weren't more than a couple hundred fans on the grass.

PS--Check out the sound next home game.

What's the news on the sound, jay? Why so coy. Not everything related to this school has to be a freaking secret.

Never mind saw your other post.

    Hey Charlie.

No one is being ____ing coy.

I made some calls this morning. Your answer about the attendance is above.

Your answer about the sound system is in the sound system thread.

Yeah just saw the other post. These "I have some info" without the info posts get old, sorry.

Well first and foremost, Hammer and Z have chizzled physiques, and would most definitely fit in the alotted 18".

How are single game student numbers being calculated? Are the IDs being scanned? When I was a student, they were not. How was the entire freshmen class counted when they ran onto the field thru the tunnel? How are the YRC kids being counted when all they do is flash a membership card? How are recruits and their families counted when they are being hosted?

If everything you just posted is true, there were nowhere near 40k for the Southern game. That was a fabricated number, based on this information.

Concerning the fans in common areas, did you come down from the press box and see the corridors, concessions, restrooms, etc? It was packed for the duration of the first half, at least. I also scoff at the notion that, based on our other recently most attended games, there were "a few hundred fans" on the hill. The band is a few hundred people. You're telling me that everyone on the hill could have fit in the deisgnated band section in the corner of the SEZ? No way.

Even with John's formula, we still are potentially 2-3k off the mark.

All I'm doing is giving you what goes into paid attendance...which, I believe, folks here asked for.

I've spend all morning getting this info. You and others should direct any further questions to John.

No bone to pick with you, inquiring minds just looking for concrete answers. But I do appreciate the info. I'll talk to John personally at the luncheon.

They were totally legitimate questions. Glad I could help.
