Very disappointed in Lafayette area that we can not break 30k on the best football opening day in many years and with such high hopes for the team. I think 27k is pathetic.

Do we really expect different? I no longer get disappointed it's become the norm for me.
Absolutely. It's like people are stuck in this "but did you see how many empty seats there were in the grand stands?". It's starting to p me off. My brain can scan and calculate the numbers in the end zones and the numbers standing around outside of the seating, and plug them into our original 31k seats, and determine how many we're short. We definitely missed on 3k or more yesterday. It doesn't make sense that we under estimate while everyone and his brother doubles their head count. There has to be some advantage to our school to under report.
I was warned by the university not to tailgate in nothing but my thong. Thousands were disappointed yesterday when they came to gaze upon my thong and I had it covered up. The two biggest complaints at the game yesterday were the sound system and the lack of my exposed thong. I apologize to the thousands that had to endure both of those disappointments.
They just need to announce tickets sold plus students. They are starting to do it in other sports
From the video it looked like more than 27K to me. But let's put this into perspective, I live within 1-1/2 hours of 2 P5 schools that played in state FCS teams this weekend. UNC played NC A&T who travels extremely well (Similar to Southern, due to there band) and they are within an hour of Chapel Hill and they had an announced crowd of 44K. But even more dissappointing is Duke who played not only an in state school, but an in city FCS school in NC Central. The attendance for that game was just over 33K. Oh by the way, the weather in Raleigh/Durham area was beautiful Saturday afternoon. Maybe everyone was at the NC State game vs EKU who drew 57K. FYI, Syracuse only drew 26,670 vs Wake Forest in the Carrier Dome. The Carrier Dome seats nearly 50K and the weather is always beautiful there, and this was a conference game. Boston College drew less than we did vs Howard. Others of interest:
Charlotte 16K vs Presbyterian
FAU had 30K vs Miami (same city)
UTSA had 29K vs Kansas State
USM had 23K vs Austin Peay
Ohio had 25K vs Marshall
SMU had 25K vs North Texas (Local conference rival)
ODU had 20K vs Norfolk State (Local team)
WKU had 17K vs La Tech (granted it was a Thursday night)
CMU had 21K vs Monmouth
NIU had 17K vs Murray State
Wyoming had 19K vs Eastern Mich
Ga South had 23K vs WMU
ULM had 20K vs Nicholls
Texas State had 24K vs PVAM
Troy had 17K vs Charlston Southern
Ark State had 29K vs Mizzou
NMSU had 27K vs Ga State
UCONN had 28K vs Army
Kent State had 15K vs Delaware State
Akron had 23K vs Pitt
Nevada had 24K vs Arizona
New Mexico had 24K vs Tulsa
Air Force had 22K vs San Jose
UNLV had 31K vs UCLA
I know we are dissappointed in the crowd and I am with you guys I don't think it was accurate. But we are not the only ones that expect more from our fan base.
Others do it to protect their pride.
Now, I have no idea if this is the case but one possibility for under reporting would be to pad the general coffers and create more discretionary income.
Antithesis of Baldwin coaching contract clauses that involve attendance averages would be another possibility.
Like I said I don't know if either of these is true, just looking for possibilities.
