This is a big part of the attendance problem we need to fix.... In any other stadium (beside ULMost)on the first level from the 50 to 35 yard line seats are always filled it. Luckly it was an good crowd at this game though, but it's usually worse. It's sad b/c those are the best seats in the house and they just collect dirt and peanut shells from not being used. What ever the ticket office is doing selling those seats to big sponsor/donors has got to change.
That being said...we did have a great turnout. I personally believe the attendance is off. 5,000 students and it one of the biggest crowds I've seen in years . And the home side was about 70% full. I'm just saying this. It just had to be more than 27k...
It was absolutely more than 27K in there. And there were way more than 5000 students at that game. It may have thinned to about 5k after half time. But until the half time show the student side was jam packed except the extreme north end. And I was shocked to see the south end zone so full. it was at least 80 per cent of capacity. And the upper deck ended up being well over 50 percent capacity, and this picture shows a butt load of people in the grass. I would have estimated the crowd to be between 31 & 33K.
Whoever said under reporting can hurt attendance is right. More people want to be where they think everyone is already. Otherwise, you wouldn't have so many yo yos wanting to jam their butts into Tiger Stadium to watch ants & catch nose bleeds every Saturday night.
