The problem is the scanners. After 2 attempts to scan my tickets, I was told to just go in. I'm sure they're not scanning at least 5%.

I can say that from my view of the student side from my seats, it looked more than 75% full, at least in the first half and the endzone looked more than 1/3 full, especially with the people standing on the rail above them. I went to the North Endzone at half to get my son and looked at the homeside and again, it looked more than 65%. 65%? You are saying it looked a tad more than half full? I've got to say that it did seem a little light in the britches when they announced the attendance since I thought it would be closer to 29,000.
It appears this picture could have been taken at kickoff? If so, I'm sure we all know that our homeside fills up pretty much after kickoff (which I don't understand). If this is the time it was taken, I would suggest looking at it midway through first quarter to get a true gauge.
I don't see 11k empty seats
It appears some of us were at different games. CDs picture is halftime or kickoff. Which is never a correct representation. It also doesn't show the hill nor the common areas.
Even in that picture, there are not 11k empty. Btw, how are we accounting for YRC club members? My son was not "scanned" when we walked in..
Unfortunately, we have a historical counting shortage. And many are using the past counts as references. So, they'll argue they agree with the under count. The other "empty seat" issue that keeps puzzling people is that our end zones are large sweeps, and they weren't originally counted in our 31k stadium capacity. People look on both sides and see empty seats, but don't understand that when you take that large end zone sweep, condense it into the stand sections, it fills the voids pretty fast. And the people constantly on their feet milling around the stadium is always another 1500 easy. The count is off. We under estimate.
Seeing the pictures of the upper deck...we under reported. Tickets sold plus students. This is not rocket science and it gives us a cushion if the weather gets bad.
