  2. Research Board of Regents cuts degree programs


      BATON ROUGE — The Board of Regents has ordered several state colleges and universities to discontinue degree programs that have few graduates.

    Culling out what the board considers "low-completer" programs is an ongoing process that in recent years has canceled more than 300 degree and certificate programs around the state. The process calls for all students currently enrolled to be given a reasonable time to complete the degree, but no new students can be enrolled.
