we were able to take away allot of good things from the game last night. the good thing we didn't was the W
Learned a lot about this team in the last 30 minutes. Both QBs did well. Haack's stats are misleading, includes a handful of dropped balls, many on 3rd down conversions, one ugly failure to keep running route (easy TD) and the 2 int's are deceiving. One on a 3rd & long bomb that was picked (our receiver didn't fight for ball like the DB did).....in the end it worked out the same as a decent punt. The other int was the last play of game. Flip the mistakes made by receivers into productive endings and Haack's passing stats are very good.
I am also very happy to report......our QB can gun the ball deep! Over 50 yards when needed. That will eventually pay huge dividends in future games. Pass to Robinson in back of endzone was just over 60 yards in the air.
Both QB's need to play. I can tell you that a 2 QB system will work when both young men bring something different to the table. I am happy that we have recruited well enough, especially up front, to be very competitive with a possibly mid level SEC program. Understand that to me it's just another loss. I guess that I am somewhat psychologically damaged from being involved with too many games against p5 competition that were lost in the 4th quarter. The 2nd half was very significant obviously. I like what we were doing defensively. We have the personnel to run this package....started out rough but the kids grew in confidence as the game progressed. I am worried about injuries and depth. This game coming up against NW ST is huge....do we play down to the competition or do we take care of business and improve ourselves. I like both QB's.
NWST looks like they struggled with the QB run in their game against Southeastern. The Lions quarterback, d'shaie Landor the former Cajun. You better believe you'll see a lot of Nixon and Haack running on Saturday.
The Demons struggled on both sides of the ball earlier this week. We'll see what they have in store for us Saturday.
BECAUSE NIXON WAS HURT
I tell you what I don't want to hear ____ about us not having the talent to beat la tech. We have talent all over the field. Eliminate the big unforced errors and run the damn table.
Since I only got to watch part of the game on my ipad mini, I watched it again this morning on tv. What I took away besides the obvious negatives in the first half, was the talent we have on this team. We have speed, on both sides, we had a lot of guys around the ball showing aggressiveness, d-backs did not give 10-15 yard cushions, our o-line pass blocks very good (had trouble making holes in SEC d-line, but still adequate), we have two QBs that have great arm strength (no more wounded ducks). We have some great freshman that came ready to play. Our guys were hitting hard and making solid tackles. Our coaching staff made great adjustments on offense and defense to give this team a chance. didn't stick to vanilla. I'm not going to make predictions cause I don't want to jinx us...but I feel very good, and very proud of our RAGIN CAJUNS!!! Disappointed for them to come up a little short after playing so hard, but they can really hold their heads up high!
