Wow, great 2nd half comeback Cajuns! Outstanding effort by your young players. It should be another great year for y'all. Hopefully, just not at Tech.
You obviously didn't see the refs fumble, throw pics, play man pass d, grab a face mask or commit blatant PI. Or go thru options slower than Corkey. Sarcasm off.
If we take care of business in a few of those situations, we win, refs don't matter. And in the end, they did not. We blew it.
No, the winners in life handle adversity and bounce back up when they get very down, as the cajuns did today in very adverse conditions, and that brings a lot of mojo to the rest of the season. The winners in life lose many times but bounce back. They say football is the game of life, and in many ways it is. 99% of very successful folks in business or in other areas of life failed many times.
3 fairly definitive bad calls that won't show up in the stat sheet.
1) deep pass to KY receiver for a TD, stumbled and knee clearly hit at the 1 yardline. They'd likely have scored, but replay showed the wrong call, even announcers seemed miffed.
2) Out of bounds reception that kept a KY drive alive, foot knocked out of bounds and foot that came down in bounds could have been ruled out as well because tip of his shoe was on the line. Likely didn't change outcome of the game because would have been a field goal either way.
3) Insanely favorable first down spot after the fumbled snap on the last drive. That call did decide the game, instead of us getting the ball around the 50, they sustain a drive and score the game winner.
None of those 3 calls go into the box score at all but the home cooking was clear.
That said, that's not why we lost, we lost it ourselves because of our terrible defensive effort in the first half, really inopportune turnovers, and ridiculously bad decisions on the last drive. A lot of good things to build off of in the game though, but can't say I'm not disappointed.
One thing about it, being on national tv, for those that hung around to watch the second half, they know who the LOUISIANA RAGIN CAJUNS are!!!! Thanks to coach HUD and the team for a great game. This team played with heart, and played a full 60 minutes against a SEC talent and didn't seem to me to get tired at the end. You represented UL very well!!!
Listening to the RAGE...tovell, Pierce and Nixon sound very upbeat after the game. Certainly no pats on the back for a Loss but I think it's a good sign how they are reacting to this
The spot on 4th down was incredibly favorable and crappy but due to the pile, there was no way to challenge. Aside from that, last drive was fine. Only thing I didn't see (was blinded by anger), facemask on the drive seemed like an incidental, but was 15. I do sometimes forget, is it all considered the same or is there an incidental and a flagrant in college too?
