.@ULCoachHud said Simeon Thomas (eligibility) will be out for at least half of the season. He still does expect him to eventually come back.

UL coach Mark Hudspeth tonight: Would-be starting CB Simeon Thomas (academic eligibility) may miss at least six games this season.

Easter Bunny!
It really ____es me off. What the fack? I can only imagine how Thomas feels.
What I'm really having a hard time with is why the staff wasn't aware and prepared for Thomas being out? It at least seems like they expected him to start day 1.
Sucks for the kid. He had to deal with this his first year...got hurt...got suspended...did the work to keep his nose clean and got back on the team...poised to be a starter...and he once again got bit by the details. As much as the NCAA says they are about the student athlete...they sure like to destroy them on a whim.
Ok, how does a guy have eligibility issues for half a season? How does that happen?
I'm dying to see him in the defensive schemes. :0(
We will need him desperately in Boone, and Jonesboro.
Next man up. I'm pretty high on Mccollum after rewatching the game. I think Degrange played lights out in the nickel, and I'm confident someone will step up at the other corner.
I don't know, I saw lots of receivers running lose and deep in the Big Blue game. Our cornerbacks were not able to cope with that speed. Nice to say next man up, because yea, you have to play somebody. Thomas has the tools to play on Sundays.
He's not as fast as Brazil, so if it's a speed issue then Brazil is your guy. Simeon is long and athletic, but VERY unproven at this point. Saw a good video HUD posted where Keenan Barnes made Thomas look like a high schooler. Just saying, he may not be quite what everyone's making him out to be.
He looked pretty damned good as a true freshman, especially as the season progressed.
You can't coach length.
Glad you seem so comfortable with him gone, I think Hud had him penciled in as the starter until we were blindsided by the eligibility issue.
The question still remains. How do you have eligibility issue for half a season? I guess there may be an NCAA rule about it, I am just in the fog about it.
