Thread: College football coaching shenanigans in the past month have been amazing

  1. UL Football College football coaching shenanigans in the past month have been amazing

For now, we've been spared. But certainly we're not immune.

Given the farce that is this college football offseason, would anyone be surprised if Mike London took the Buffalo Bills job before coaching a game at Virginia?

Or if Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer retired Monday, reconsidered Tuesday and locked Bryan Stinespring in a Porta-John on Wednesday?

Or if Bobby Wilder bailed on Old Dominion after one season and began poaching Monarchs' recruits for his new employer?

Eventful as the bowls were, from 'Bama's title to Colt's injury to Boise's perfection, nothing approaches the coaching shenanigans of the past month.

Slimy, sleazy and abusive. Maddening, enraging and depressing.

That pretty much covers it. And these are men to whom we entrust our children?

Might I just say that the man who wrote this article did very little research or I just missed an entire year of football. I do recall that we went 6-6 and a different coach than the one in this article

Easy now. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, even sports reporters.

The difference is that their mistakes are in fine print and seen by thousands of people - sometimes even more.

True, but that is exactly what makes a good reporter good, and a bad one terrible as a good reporter will pay more attention to the fine detail and a bad one will say that the Ole Mizzou Rebels played the Arkansas Razorblades.

Well, our failure to Brand us as "Louisiana" has left us with not only references as UL Lafayette, UL Laf, Lafayette, Louisiana Lafayette, UL L, U La La, but now Louisiana Tech. When will this become a priority for us?

I understand what you're saying, but I just think it's wrong to judge a writer based on one story.

    Again, mistakes happen sometimes.

this is true.... you just think that he would have done more research before sending it to the press. with Dooley leaving right before recruiting opens back up, this may help recruiting for us with some of the guys sitting on the fence.

i disagree. a mistake would be a typo, or a sentence fragment, or subject/verb disagreement. this is an error in reporting resulting from carelessness, or laziness on the part of the reporter. it's not that hard to check background facts. that's what makes your columns and blogs interesting. i have come to trust your accuracy and attention to detail, whether or not i agree with a particular point.
