Thread: The University of Louisiana ranks in top 25 for computer science grads' mid-career pay

  1. Default The University of Louisiana ranks in top 25 for computer science grads' mid-career pay

The University of Louisiana is one of the top 25 universities in the nation for computer science majors, based on the mid-career salaries its alumni earn.

That’s according to PayScale, a research company that claims to have compiled the world's largest database of individual salary profiles. It analyzed the earnings of 1.4 million alumni to rank 187 colleges and universities that have computer science programs.

UL tied with Carnegie Mellon University for No. 23. Both schools’ computer science alums reported mid-career median pay of $121,000. PayScale defines “mid-career” as at least 10 years of experience.

PayScale ranks universities and colleges by early career and mid-career median salaries. Twenty-seven schools made the top 25, due to ties.

The University of California, Santa Barbara was ranked No. 1. Its graduates reported a mid-career median salary of $147,000, PayScale said.

The University of California, Berkeley and Columbia University tied for No. 2. Their graduates reported a mid-career median salary of $145,000.

No other Louisiana universities were ranked in the top 25.

Interesting stuff. Up there with some of the big boys.

If you look closer at the list, the entry level for UL graduates is much lower than a lot of these schools, but many of these are private and the tuition or student loan repayment would greatly balance that out.

The same company showed a list of the top earning majors, and what I think of as number of our dominant programs seem to show up in the highest paying as well.
