I've seen the words comfy and satisfied, used in this thread. So, it's ok to apply it to the coaches, but unacceptable for administration!? None of them are perfect. The hoops team doesn't shoot 100% from the FT line; baseball team makes a few errors; and football team turns it over on occasion. But, we put those mistakes behind us, look forward and continue to support our teams, right!? So, why do we have such a hard time doing same w our admin? Yes, they make mistakes, but they've also made great strides in the past 10 or so years, that we should all be proud of! If Robe is comfy in his role, let it be! Hard to argue with two straight super regionals! If Marlin is comfy, good; we can expect more postseason appearances! If Hud is comfy, well nuff said. So, if Admin is comfy cut em a break. Sometimes you gotta give a little time to see how one decision works before implementing another. Honestly, Think about where we were in 2005.........
We all know that we can't get to "the next level" without more $$. Well, admin just made a move (hiring Harris), specifically for that. The same way that 6 years ago, they created RCAF for that same reason. I'm gonna support my administration, as long as I see continued improvement, cuz everybody can use a pat on the back now and then! I could ramble on and on, but I've said my peace.....

Yes he did, but his pay is still about half of the amount that Marlin got. In most schools that would make sense, but at UL baseball is such a big part of the identity of the athletic program AND Robe has been doing so much with so little for so long, I would like to see it rewarded. But that is just me. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for Marlin. But in the end, if Robe is happy with his compensation deal, I guess it all good.

First, congrats to Coach Marlin. I'm not sure how I feel about this extension, I know it's not excitement. Kind of a mixed bag. I like Marlin, he has many positives that we need in a coach. Where Coach Hud is pushing into new territory and taking football where it has never been. Coach Marlin has the basketball program trekking in familiar territory, but still looking up to where the program has been and I'm not sure he can get us back there.

Don't get mad... but it's really interesting that you used errors, turnovers and missed FTs as an analogy to cutting the admin some slack. When a football player fumbles too often, he's benched. If an infielder piles up errors, he's benched. In any case, he gets attention from his coach. The person that has invested their time in him, gives him criticism and discusses measures to improve his performance. Do you know who does that for every athletic admin in this great nation? The fans. And whether people think so or not, every coach and every athletic admin retains or loses his/their job directly due to fans. Everyone has a boss in this life. We are a diverse group of fans. And there are those that do dad's job, and there are those that do mom's job. Maybe the moms on here aren't doing their job and showing their love for the admin. It's probably because they're spending too much time riding the dads' asses. Personally, I think our admin children are growing up fine. They're arrogant teenagers that don't think mom and dad are their bosses anymore, but watch and see if they don't come asking us for some money.

Fish, I think you'll find this everywhere, including universities where baseball gets a lot more pub than basketball.

It's just the nature of the sports, I think.

What percentage of Johnny Jones' salary does Paul Manieri get? That's an easy example. And a typical one.

LSU as a P5 team gets huge dollars for NCAA basketball Marlin and UL get what Oliver Twist got. No doubt LSU can more easily justify than UL.

Very sure Robe and the players impact the revenue for UL a lot better than Marlin. Net loss or profit I'm talking about.

The thing I don't like about this or any contract is an automatic extension for winning the conference or tournament.

These salaries are all driven by a market -- just like any other job. The world's greatest garbage man will never make more money than the world's worst doctor. D1 basketball coaches get paid more than D1 baseball coaches. It is what it is.

    And oh by the way,

I think this year is going to be really special.
