Thread: Honeybaked Ham

    Default Honeybaked Ham

I went to Honeybaked Ham today (where Julien's PoBoy's used to be in the Albertson's shopping center on the corner of Kaliste Saloom and Ambassador Caffery) to cash a gift certificate given to me by my company for Christmas and as I usually do on weekends, was wearing a UL cap.

    • They took 10% off because I wore either UL or Saints gear during their respective football seasons.
    • If you go there while the Saints are still in the postseason, be sure to wear something UL or Saints so you will get your discount.

I also mentioned to a couple of employees and the manager that I represented hundreds of Cajun fans online and would spread the word, and they gave me their card and a lunch and catering order form. Honeybaked Ham is a national chain that just opened up in Lafayette last month and is trying to get established.

This is not a solicitation per se, but I suggested to them that a mutually beneficial relationship could ensue if they considered advertising with UL. I told them that among our online group are members of the media including those that broadcast our sporting events.

So if you are in sales for UL, I suggest you contact these people. If they become UL boosters, please support those who support our university. And if you go there during football season, wear your gear and get your discount.

Thanks for the info. Great to see a new business interested in supporting the Cajuns. I'll return the favor next week.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Re: 10% Honeybaked Ham in Lafayette for Cajun, Saints fans

    Hey,

This is Josh Richard, the store manager at the HoneyBaked. I just wanted to reiterate what was previously said. I am offering, for the remainder of the football season 10% discount on any purchases on game day if a Saints or Cajuns apparel is worn. I know this is towards the end of the season, however; we have just recently opened. (December 7th)

We are new in the Lafayette area as a franchise. You may remember a HoneyBaked Ham being in the community some years ago. Let me take this opportunity to clarify that while this is the same corporation, it is a completely different franchise ownership.

I graduated from UL in 2006 and have returned to give back to the community that has given so much to me. Coupled with education, this city has given me, amongst other things, a good work ethic and moral compass that's true.

In this sense, I am trying to put my store in a position to support UL in every facet possible. We, as a store understand the quickest way to gain local support is through superior products and unwavering customer support. I believe that we have both, and as a store manager I personally will guarantee your money back if for whatever reason you receive a product that is below our standards, or for that matter your standards.

I would like to extend a personal thank-you to California Cajun for the post.

My wife bought a ham for us to use as sandwiches over the holidays. It was outstanding and did not last the week. We will be back.

I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about the food. The ribs were terrific as well as the ham. I used my discount to add mango-lime salsa to my order and it is very good. I'll dive in to my smoked turkey next week.

    You won't go away disappointed!

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Re: 10% Honeybaked Ham in Lafayette for Cajun, Saints fans

I regretfully write that as of today, the owner felt it in his best interest to dismiss me. He felt that I was not running the store adequately enough to keep my position there, and furthermore insisted that I was running the store with "no commitment". Obviously I feel entirely different, but apparently that had little affect on the final decision. Consequently, I am now in the market for a career.

I have uprooted my entire life and moved back to Lafayette with the notion that my employment be for quite some time at HoneyBaked. I have been back in town for a very short time and I do not have the contacts I once had. In this sentiment, I have attached my resume and a quick synopsis of who I am and what I am looking for. I think both will give you a good idea of what I can bring to the table. As I know I will inevitably have to answer questions concerning my leave at HoneyBaked, I feel very strong that this deicision was made under false knowledge.

I know this is a long-shot and will begin my quest for a career via the Advertiser, I felt it mutually beneficial to let the people know the state of affairs, as it concerns me with HoneyBaked.

Thank you in advance to anyone who might have an opportunity for me.

    Josh Richard

I was going to call there today to order a ham, etc. for the Saints game Sunday but will not do so now. Please feel free to forward this to whomever you like. One month in business and this?
