Without a passing threat, 3 runs in a row will be 3 and out. And no matter how good we think Elijah is... he'll get pounded and put on the sideline if we run him like we did Zo. We should not operate an offense just to eat clock because we can't count on our defense. The defense has to step up and be counted on. Most people, and they are correct, say "defenses win and lose the game". It's time for our defense to step up or take the punishment.

We have too many weapons scattered around the field to not make use of them. It is IMO the only way our ground game will succeed AND stay healthy.

Don't know if this option brought up. Maybe HUD had decided that Nixon will play at halfback (some special qb plays) and hack will be starter with Ray the understudy ( with Nixon if needed )

Agreed! Just last night I posted this comment from a blog discussing Alonzo Harris:

"Harris had turned some heads with his physical running style in practice......."

If Harris is turning heads at an NFL practice with his physical running style then imagine the concern he was causing defenses of Cajun opponents. As of this moment, we don't have anyone to replace him and I agree that giving Elijah too many touches could result in something we don't want to see.

We've got the athletes, we've got the speed, and we've got a qb who Hud has said can put it on the money downfield. I hope we use all of it. And if we do, I believe The Prophet will have his best year yet.

And many a decent QB tore us a new hole the past few years. You would think we'd worship a QB with excellent read and complete skills. We showed average passers and average receivers more respect the last couple of years than any team in America. Our coaches must respect a decent passer. It's time to prove it on our side of the ball.

Zo got put on the sideline a few times in his career. Injury comes with the territory at RB.

While we don't have anyone as physical per say, it's not unreasonable to believe we can get similar production out of the committee backing up Eli.

I was joking, because of course a non existent player by virtue of a wrong name would be out of the running.

Maybe HUD blows everyone's mind and starts Gunner against Kentucky.

How does that destroy my case? A bigger back getting sidelined doesn't support exposing a smaller back with speed to drop his shoulder equally. We need to exploit open space with everyone on our offensive roster. If we try to pound the ball this year, and then occasionally throw the ball... we're going to fail. We must establish the pass from the start. If every person keeps working thinking/knowing they are a viable target on every play, they'll work harder and smarter to get open... and they'll get the feel for Saturday catch and run. I absolute guarantee this forum that if we set our offense around the ground and pound, we'll go down this year. We have open space skills in the human arsenal this year. And we had better capitalize on it. It is the regular deployment of a wide variety of skill players at short, middle and long range that will open Elijah up for racing down the field. The last place we need to routinely expose him is the box where every team is going to challenge us.

The first blown mind would be the one that decided that.

Yes, it is unreasonable. Not impossible... but certainly unreasonable.

4.7 yds per carry is unreasonable?
