C4L.... It seems like the main thing that started this was your assertion that Farmer was putting "his boy" and hand picked the top 5. And we were gonna "USL" this thing.
In the presser Moncla said the "committee 5" narrowed down from 69 to 10 to 5.
So fair question: After it's said and done, Do you maintain your original assertion, or was Moncla lying?
I'm not making an opinion of Harris/Hale either way. Just wondering your thoughts on this conflicting information.
I looked at the schools that he listed on his resume and their budgets are not more impressive than ours. In fact direct contributions UL already exceeds both Ohio and USF. Now I haven't looked beyond the surface, but I just haven't been impressed.
He is another Greg Stewert IMO. Now that doesn't mean I'm not gonna give they guy a chance. I just refuse to believe he was the most impressive applicant.
With that being said, Farmer screened these applicants and I'm sure had a lot of sway in the process. It's obvious that Harris was his hire IMO.
Since 2004 Ohio University has only had one major facility improvement and that was an $11 million dollar IPF.
At USF he was part of $66 million or so facility improvements. No where near the $500 million in pledged support. Now all we need is roughly $70 million to wrap up the rest of our major projects. But unlike Ohio's website that list where the money comes from, USF does not. They also don't state that it was through donations.
I have my doubts about Harris, but he will get my full support. Now if 3 years pass and there is still no Phase II renovation for football complete or near completion and no Tigue Moore completion. Then he will have been a flop. IMHO
Everything about this hire at this time is strictly speculation. But if the hire is good or not will be as clear as day and night in two or three years. If Phase II is built or in progress, I will consider it a success. If not, it will be a bust.
Coaches are judged by wins and losses, and Harris will be judged on how fast facilities are built.
Very simple IMO. Be very transparent, come out and say we need this for athletics, go out and shake up the big movers and get the funds to build it. Not like its done now. We need this done but we don't have the money now. Example, Tigue Moore Field 10 years ago........still waiting.
Frenchie, you and I and every other fan who really looks at it knows that the ONLY reason the Tigue renovations have not been done is because the University slow played athletic improvements. Had they really pushed 6 to 8 years ago, or again 2 or 3 years ago, the Tigue would now be finished.
If Harris is handcuffed by the administration like Winstead was, you and I won't live long enough to see it done.
That being said, all we can do is support Harris and hope for the best.
No, I did not know RR murdered a hooker in the 70s. I also didn't know Bill Cosby raped a bunch of women. Now, back to you and asking questions (acceptable) and you saying that C4L BS'd this forum for the past 3 weeks... you need to prove it... or shut up.
And I know you deflected poll concept originality to MAT... but I think the poll is unfair to Jim Harris... and you shouldn't have created it in the wake of the Steve Hale controversy. We're hiring Harris. We need to get behind him. Your poll is divisive. I know you don't mean it to be. You don't think that far ahead. But you succeeded in drawing negative responses for a guy with a clean slate. That's not good for our system.
Let's allow Harris to do his job, and hope he knocks it out of the park for us. For future, ask questions when you want answers. When you don't have a clue what others are discussing, just listen. You wouldn't know it... but you missed on this Ronald Reagan hooker murder case.
