A combination of the loss in federal and state money, along with the decrease in sales tax revenue and oil and gas money is expected to leave the Vermilion Parish School Board facing a $5 million deficit by the end of the fiscal year in July.

However, before that happens, School Board Superintendent Randy Schexnayder and Phil Sellers, who oversees the School Board’s finances, have been looking at ways to head off the deficit.
