Honestly...we don't know. We have only heard one name (TAF cat) and no verification that he is the guy. Who knows...the hire might be a decent one. That's not going to fix the process and how the committee treated Hale...but it's a start. If they bungle this one...I don't think it's going to be pretty. But some here would hail Grover from Sesame Street being hired as the ED of the RCAF as a sign of how great of a job they are doing. Form over substance. They are all in for Martin Hall. Can't change that.

All in all...I want the hire to blow me away. So we can get on with it. But...I highly doubt it will. The secrecy, lack of transparency, and their reaction to us not buying their bull____...I don't have to know how to read Tarot cards to see how it's prolly gonna go.

I have been the most outspoken about Steve getting his day (and I will beat it to death; LIKE HE WAS TOLD). But I'm intelligent enough to realize crushing this new hire isn't going to do our program any good. Farmer has his hands all over this, not the new hire. I will say that this guy better be in the realm of Hale. If not, myself and the majority of people that have been following this will be ticked. Not at the new guy, at the people responsible for the process.

I think you will be surprised. We have no choice but to get behind the new guy. No choice.

I am sure that from a "pure fundraiser" standpoint the new hire's credentials will be very good, if not impressive. However, judging by the responses from the admin's allies I doubt he will bring much of anything to the table regarding the "additional responsibilities" as outlined in the job posting nor much in the way of the intangibles (conference and media connections) that Hale would gave brought to help offset Farmer's shortcomings. But we shall see in about an hour.

Thanks! Thought I had a few years left in me, but the state department is losing its grip on reality. It was time. For a year, I plan to take it easy. Piddle around the house. Go to at least a couple of away football and basketball games. (I hear Boone, NC is a great place.) And in the spring I plan to take in as many softball and baseball games as possible.
