I've understood that since day-one, the day Cajun4Life posted his thread about the mistake that was about to be made.
I want to know why such a mistake is being made, if indeed it is a mistake.
So far, from the site, I've gleaned the following reasons for the mistake:
1) The President of the University is comfortable where the athletic program is today and does not wish to see it progress and therefore does not want Mr. Hale hired.
2) Same for the Athletic Director.
3) The Athletic Director is fearful of Mr. Hale's capabilities and does not want him anywhere near the Cajun athletic program.
4) The board of the RCAF is merely doing the bidding of the university President and-or the Athletic Director instead of fulfilling their fiduciary responsibility to the university's athletic program by denying Mr. Hale an interview.
And perhaps.........
5) Something else.
I don't know the answer, but I do hope to eventually find out.
Actually the good news is that none of us need to up our donations... They have hired the best pure fundraiser in the country apparently. They don't need us little people anymore. I'll do what I have to do to keep my parking spot and bowl tickets. Any extra money I have or want to donate will be placed directly in coaches hands or go to their club meetings.
CC, as a point of clarification, is anyone from the RCAF on record saying that they were looking for a "pure fundraiser", or, as I understood what I read at the time, they were looking for a candidate with a strong fundraising background? For me, as I try to figure out how the process is playing out, it's an important distinction.
The requirements apparently changed throughout the process. The knock on Hake was his fundraising background, all the supporters keep bringing up fundraising and the guy they are hiring and the other 4 candidates blow Hale out the water in the category apparently. Well, they don't need me anymore because they have a pure fundraiser now. Since I Doubt I matter enough to he on the contact list, I see no reason to keep straining myself by giving more and more. I'll give what benefits me and the fundraiser they hire can handle the rest.
I see a simple answer.
He was not qualified for the position.
He IS qualified to be AD or associate AD, but that is not what we are looking for at the moment.
Hiring this applicant for the position posted would have caused chaos within the athletic department. Too many chefs in the kitchen.
If at some future date he applies to fill a vacant AD position, I will be right there with you guys demanding this man be hired, but this was not the time to have this confrontation.
