He still has not named a No. 1 quarterback, either publicly or its still believed privately.
But less than one full week into preseason camp, UL coach Mark Hudspeth never planned to so soon anyway.

Based on recent WR injuries, does he go with a "running" QB against UK? If UK takes away Robinson via double team (why wouldn't they), we have virtually no experience at WR. So, why not shorten the game with a heavy dose of run, run, run!?
Damn, I wish TB was still here......
The best player on our team is Eli and our O line is pretty solid. I feel it gives us our best chance if we can add another running threat in the backfield and pound it at em.
Regardless of who QB's, there's little passing experience coming in and now were depleted at the position to receive those passes....
I'm not saying don't throw at all, but we'll probably see lots of screens and bubble passes.
We won't have Eli for long if we try to use him to pound it at them, Harris was not only huge when picking up the needed short yardage but he wore defenses down, we don't have anyone like that. These kids were brought here to play WR, we have 3 solid starters and 2 experienced tight ends. The young ones just need to fill in and I promise 1 or 2 of them will step up if given the chance. Go back and look at some of the schools that group passed up to come here, they will contribute. You can either catch or you can't. We have to give Eli space.
Wait... did we lose Devin Scott or Jamal Robinson or Fusilier or anyone else on the 2 deep besides Jackson? Get a grip, my friend. We are very deep and talented at receiver. While I do wish the young men we lost were available to play, it is not like you and I need to be brushing up on our pass routes.
We lost a guy who will probably never play a meaningful down here and another guy who had minimal production. We have 4 true freshman who are very talented and I expect at least 2 to be contributors this year ( Barnes and Haynes). No need to panic here.
Haack attack. Hand the ball to Eli. Prophet.
IMO, our best chance to beat Kentucky is to spread them out, force the double with J-Rob, and utilize the short passing game in the middle of the field with our Tight Ends. Nickel and Dime them to death. When they start attacking the middle, wheel routes and toss sweeps outside with Eli... screens and go routes to keep them guessing. We can do that.
