"that Houston Bates, a 6'3", 230 LB/DE is wavering on his comittment to LSU and might attend UL-L."

This was stated on a LSU site. Just wondering if there is any truth of him being recruited by UL?

If this kid does go against his parents by signing with UL, that is going to take some gunite gonads (yes I made that up.) You know he would get some unbelievable grief from them and MANY others. Kudos to the kid for even contemplating it.

This kid's dad sounds like a real jerk. Probably better that we don't have to put up with a guy like that in the stands... IF he'd even "lower" himself to the point of stepping into Cajun Field to watch his son play.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be great if this kid turned 18 today... and then told his dad where to get off?

The problem is Bates won't be 18 on signing day, so a parent must sign his letter, too. That's what I've been told.
