Thread: UL exploring options for regional TV deal

  1. Default UL exploring options for regional TV deal

University of Louisiana athletic director Scott Farmer had hoped to have a regional TV deal with Cox Sports Television in place before the start of the 2015 season, if not sooner.

The truth finally emerges. No more mythical filters, just no CST.

So, why can't CST modify there coverage if they want it so bad?

Rick that's not the question that needs to be asked. Why did we give away our 3rd Tier TV rights to the Sun Belt thus eliminating any possibility of securing the CST deal. That was a Farmer blunder.

Good cst doesnt reach all of the fl pandhandle anyway. It is a lie you have to be in certain place or have a package to get it and i dont know why you would want lafayette area to sit at home when they should be at the game. Any package they ever agree to should not have lafayette coverage.

OK, so no new news there. Only way we get a deal is if CST agrees to concessions.

    Exactly.

We bash ESPN, as we should, for their excessive control over sports...then when an article surfaces that points this out, we blame others.

No, the fault here clearly lies with Farmer for giving up third tier rights to the Sun Belt. Had he not done that, the CST deal would have been done long ago.

You are wrong about the bolded part. Coverage in your home market will actually increase attendance, especially when the game day experience looks like fun on the TV. More locals see that and want to be part of it.

Well it's not CST's fault was my point
