And YES, the lines DO look obnoxious.

Just a question, from some of your pics, it looks like you can see the seams running along the outfield. Is that really viewable from the seats? You can't see this on football fields becuase the 5 yd markers cover them up. I haven't noticed this on other turf fields, but also haven't seen many of them, either.

...and Texas. I believe they have a HUGE Longhorn in Center Field. However, with them, they have a park with seats and camera angles high enough to make out what's out there. I don't know if it would work as well at the Tigue...maybe from the bleachers. I'm not sure if I would like it or not, but I damn sure wouldn't want it to be the pepper.

The seams in the outfield will close up. At least that what they said. They said with some rain and more brushing with added rubber and sand it will get better. I walked in the out field and it feels just like grass. The pic on the construction camera don't do the field justice. As far as the home plate lines it is an allusion caused by the camera angle. The lines are much smaller and about six inches from the plate.

Buddy what are your thoughts on the artificial turf vs. real turf?

There isn't going to be a logo in CF. I asked a few weeks ago and was told that they though about puting one but one thing held them back....money. It was A LOT more to put something in CF.

I have good thoughts about turf.
    Easy maintenance,
    virtually 0 rain outs,
hot in the summer BUT we are playing 75% night games during the hotter months,
no drop off into the outfield,
    truer hops to the infielders,
NO TARP (wish there wasn't a tarp when I was playing...dumping the tarp at 6:00 AM on game day isn't fun),
no watering = less hassle & more time (infield needs to be watered excessively to keep clay moist and we always had to spend a few games training a freshman to learn how to put the hose up every year)
Babb will have less motion sickness from driving the gator in circles around the infield 3 times a game and mowing the grass.

My only questions are: Are we still going to play fireman before the games even though Coach Do isn't going to be watering the field and how will T-Mick adjust to turf versus grass.

All joking aside, the good FAR outweigh the bad and the turf will be great for UL. I would argue the injuries we have had over the years due to wet conditions are greater than what can be attributed to having a turf field.

i went today and got a close up of the field. Really is nice. the rubber inlay makes it feel similar to regular grass. i wonder why we chose to do home plate area in turf as opposed to dirt. Also, i am a huge fan of stripping the grass....wonder if there is a brooming machine that can stripe it up??

T Mick will adjust by mid season. LOL! Thanks for the explanation. The wet conditions I think are the huge thing. After last year's conference tournament I was convinced turf was the way to go. In South La. we have to many games effected by the weather. I'll miss that foot and a half drop off in the outfield though.

Look at the satellite photo of UT stadium that Andre posted. It appears to have faint striping effects although the stripes are in different directions in LF and RF than CF. that is likely from the direction the brushing machine was traveling. But they are faint and may not show up from the stands.

The way logos are done you can shave and insert one at any point in the future. This way we can wait till we cook the pepper.
