Now that you have FACTS as I posted concerning willingness of non conference teams to come here, what is YOUR solution???????????
yes, a losing basketball team will not draw the same as a winning basketball team against the same opponent, a coach everyone wants fired will not draw the same as a coach who everyone likes against the same opponent. Try not to live in a vaccum just to prove you are right. If jerry Baldwin would have somehow got boise state here it wouldn't have looked like it will next year. Quite simple concept. more latech's,, less milligans

I repeat. How would YOU expect this to get accomplished given what you now know? I've told you these schools won't come here. I've told you we had to use political persuasion just to get UNO to come here. We just renewed the Tech contract...they will be here next season.

    What's YOUR idea?

Why? You know everything, let's just give up... What's the point? Past attendance records show we should just play local high schools. Raise the money to get games, I don't buy people are scared to play us. Just like with everything.... Feed excuses, eat them like a buffet and regurgitate. We were told this same crap for football, yet somebody has managed to find a way to change that. People who are determined find a way, people who aren't find excuses.

How about start the ground work for a Battle for the Boot (All Louisiana team tournament). Get, UL, LSU, Tulane, La Tech, ULM all on board with the first tournament played at a neutral site....Smoothie King?

Somehow finagle a way to have tournament scheduled yearly with the winner getting to host the next years' tournament. What this will do is get a decent rpi field of teams together, playing "locally" with the potential of hosting numerous years....If not, it's not a terrible travel for a weekend tournament to Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Ruston, or Monroe.

Lay the ground work now, do some leg work to remove the kinks with the plan to have it in place in the next few years.....

This doesn't necessarily change the home schedule, but gives you the possibility to get all of these teams under one roof and on your schedule (minor travel costs included)

As I thought. You got nothin'. Except name calling and saying "I don't believe it."

Did you know when Jessie was winning, we played Texas Tech (we were coming off an NCAA appearance) at home. And, didn't draw 4,000? We also didn't have a single home game in December).

Did you know the following year we had Mississippi State at home and didn't draw 4,000?

Did you know the year after that our home non con schedule was Louisiana College, Alcorn and Bethune Cookman?

Did you know the following season we had Loyola (NO) and Mobile College at home?

Did you know perhaps the best overall non conference schedule was in 2004-05 (coming off an NCAA appearance and about to win another championship) when we played Rice, Georgia State, St. Mary's and Southern Illinois? Our best crowd was Rice (return of a bracket buster game) which drew 4071. WE drew more for St. Mary's (a division II school) than we did for Ga. St or southern Ill (who was awfully good then.)

We have had two non conference games since then which have drawn more than 4,000: Tennessee (top ten) and Nevada (top 20).

So go ahead and tell me we can draw well in non conference. I say we can't. And, we haven't been able to in about 15 years.

It's basketball in the deep south.

And, we shouldn't have to go all the way to freaking Malibu to get a team to agree to a home and home. But we do.

Lamar, Southeastern, Southern Miss, Houston, Rice, Texas Pan American for crying out loud.

They won't play home and home with us.

But yeah, it's so much easier for you to scream excuses than it is to face the facts.

I'm done. Feel free to call me a pompous ___ again.

Did you know as a person who spends his money on entertainment, I'm intelligent enough to know what interest me... I don't give a ___ if I'm by myself in the cajundome. I know what I want to see, I don't care about your statistics, I know I wont drop 50$ to watch Milligan college get run over. I don't know why you are taking this so personal. Our scheduling sucks I mentioned people who Id like to see us play and you go off on some tangent that fits your agenda, this isn't your radio show, you aren't gonna patronize me and hangup. Interest is lost in the program, we are trying to think of ways to regain interest. Sounds like you have given up and bought into the hopelessness that is college basketball in the south. I haven't...yet. I will not keep buying season tickets to watch teams that I have to google to figure out wth they are. It's someons job to fix it, not mine. However, I'll gladly discuss with you the things I am paid to fix for a living and my customers and bosses won't put up with the excuses of why I can't get it done, they find someone who will.

You don't know why I took things personal? Try because you made it personal by calling me names.

The beginning of this thread had to do with attendance in non conference games. It then morphed into who we schedule.

    No tangent with me.

LSU, Tulane, and La Tech don't want to play us. And ULM is in our conference so we can't play them either. A southland school might go for it, but we already schedule them anyway, and they can't play each other so you can only invite one. So now all we're left with is crappy schools, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Can you give me an example of a public G5 school in our region that has an OOC schedule that you would find acceptable?
