But, but, SF's RCAF e-mail today showed we were playing at home that weekend against Northwestern.
What did the email say?
Letter From Scott Farmer
Director of Athletics
We had another outstanding year of athletic success. Football captured their fourth consecutive New Orleans Bowl win, men's and women's basketball played in post-season tournaments with the women's team winning the Women's Basketball Invitational championship, and both baseball and softball advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals. Your Ragin' Cajuns were the only school in the country to compete in the Regionals and Super Regionals in both baseball and softball in the past two years!
And our student-athletes have produced a level of academic success that is unprecedented at this institution. Take a look at these numbers from the recent spring semester:
• Our 372 student-athletes earned a cumulative GPA of 2.977
• 49.7% of all student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better
• 33 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA
• 183 student-athletes were named to the Sun Belt Conference Honor Roll and Commissioner's List
We are equally proud of what our coaches and academic counselors are doing for our student-athletes. Together, they are building opportunities for these young men and women by instilling skills that will enable them to succeed not only here at UL but after they graduate, as well. Below you will find two stories highlighting recent academic achievements by our student-athletes.
As a RCAF Annual Fund donor, you played an integral part in this past year's success. The record $2.1 million raised in 2014 helped provide the support necessary for each of our accomplishments. As of June 30th, $1.7 million has already been donated and we are on track to surpass last year's figure in both donations and donors.
I would also like to welcome Robert Daigle as the new Chair of the RCAF Board. A long-standing Ragin' Cajuns fan and supporter, Robert's passion and leadership will be great assets to the RCAF.
A special thanks to Wayne Elmore. Under his leadership as Chair in 2014, we continued our growth, set records, and made great strides in the silent phase of our capital campaign.
Following a recent meeting of the RCAF Board, members were able to tour the progress of the Student-Athlete Performance Center. We have included some pictures below. Work is on schedule and we will keep you up-to-date on the scheduled opening of the facility.
Have a great summer and Geaux Cajuns!
Scott Farmer
Thinking about a trip to see the Ragin' Cajuns football team season opener when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats but not sure if you can make a weekend out of it?
The UL Alumni Association is offering a private charter flight to Lexington to attend the game. The flight will depart from Lafayette on Saturday, September 5th and then return home after the game. Ground transportation in Lexington to and from UK's Commonwealth Stadium is included.
