    Root beer, the gateway beer.

Since someone tried to high jack our thread with a beer selection, ok root beer but still beer.
Tonight I went back to an old faithful that I hadn't tried in while, for various reason, to see how it stacked up against some of my new purchases. I can report that it didn't disappoint and it still stands up against any bourbon that I have had. Blanton's is the original single barrel bourbon. Each barrel is handed select by the master distiller. It is distilled, aged and bottled in Frankfort, KY by the Buffalo Trace Distillery. The nose is soft to me with hints of citrus, vanilla and toasted nuts. The finish is not long, but enough for you to remember what you had. I love the taste of smoked wood and this does not disappoint, but not as much or as long as the Balcones Brimstone.

Taste of smoked wood. Sounds like something I will have to bring with me on my trip to the Rockies this November. Should go well around the campfire.

Enjoying this thread. Kudos to you.

Its more of an essence...just a hint of smokiness.

Yes, Z is correct. If you want the smell, taste and long finish of a smoked mesquite try the Balcones Brimstone. But be for warned this a very strong smoked flavor, but I love it.
