Splash of water to enhance aroma, or neat all the way? The good stuff I mean

I always start out neat to get the full taste of the bourbon, but I have read many master distillers say that a couple of drops of distilled water opens up the smell and the finish of the bourbon. I have a bottle distilled water with an eye dropper that I use to place a few drops in my drink. I do not like the cloudy look that tap water brings to drink.

Evan on the cheaper stuff, at least the first couple of times, I start out neat, then a couple of drops of water and finally ice. I find you can really find some good bourbon that is inexpensive that way. Most of the time I find I need to try something a half dozen times depending on what I have had to eat during the day. When I mean a half dozen times, I do not mean the same night.

Smart man, I would love to spend time with my dad now. I know he was a bourbon drinker but I have no clue how he drank it. At the time I thought Wild Turkey was the only bourbon and I drank it with water. Over the past 5 years I spent some time learning about bourbon and how to distinguish different taste. I mentioned it earlier in the thread that I have sinus issues so I never trust what I am tasting and always give something another try.
We will have to sit one day and have a bourbon or two.

When you say you pour 2 fingers of bourbon, is that the distance between your pointer and your pinky when you make the UL sign with your hand.😊

Nice, props for that. There is some bourbon I would pour like that but not the best stuff or what is in my opinion is the best stuff. Everyone has different taste. #GeauxUL

Ok I wasn't going to have a drink tonight, who am I kidding I was, but after wondering around the internet today I am going at least one. This little gem came in the mail today along with my new Surface Pro 3. So I will set my SP3, so that I can spend more time on the internet, while sipping this little baby.

Anyone tried the Angels envy rye? It reminded me a little bit of a rum on the finish. Pretty cool but I prefer their regular bourbon

I believe all of the Angels Envy Rye is finished in rum cask. I haven't tried it yet but it is on my list.
