Curious about the Jeffersons Ocean and the 1792. Any comments?

Very nice collection. I used to drink the 1792 often!

I love the Ocean, probably the smoothest bourbon I have tasted. You can pick up at Ambassador Wine and Spirits, it is about $12 a bottle cheaper than anywhere else I was able to find it. The 1792 very smooth as well with a hint on pepper. It reminds me a lot of the Calumet Farms Bourbon.

Hammer and I crushed some Calumet Farms this past weekend. Good stuff!

How was the Colonel E.H. Taylor? I have my bottle of Barrel Proof coming in this week. I also order a bottle of Four Roses Uncut and Unfiltered Barrel Proof.

Craig I didn't have any but Hammer cracked it open last night. He said he enjoyed it thoroughly! It was a little warm and muggy last night, I had to crush lots of gin and tonic!

If you want to learn about bourbons go to Joey's on Bertrand. Make sure to talk to Joey, he very friendly and helpful. You can also sample some of his bourbons. Also Ambassador Wine and Spirits on 2305 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, the gentleman that owns the place use to work at Marcelo's and if very knowledgeable.

Marcello's Wine Market has a very good collection. If you are looking for some of the high end harder to find, make sure to go to the glass cases by the wines. The opposite side as the bourbons that are on the shelves.

I have started a Facebook page for Lafayette, LA Bourbon Drinkers for those that want to share more info. I will send the link later. Our hope is to find some people that are willing to split the more expensive bottles so that we can at least try them before spending a lot of money for a bottle on our own.
I'm partly responsible for a lot of those selections at Champagnes and Philippes
Mel ! Steve is the mgr. at Ambassador wine/spirits - he used to be the liquor mgr. at Alb. Johnston and Marcellos - tell him I said hello !

Will do, Steve seems like a very nice guy and willing to look for bourbon for me.

Glad to hear your review of the Ocean. I was not familiar with it. But someone gave me a bottle of Ocean and I haven't opened it yet. Sounds like I need to open it soon.

May I suggest that it be your first bourbon of the night. I find that when I am tasting several bourbons the true taste does not come out. Please let me know your thoughts afterwards.
