I was given a bottle of Willett Bourbon as a gift recently and I really like the flavor on this one.

Very nice, yours is from the 3rd batch that went around the world. They just finished up batch 5 is my understanding. I think some of them traveled longer than others. I have to believe that the motion of the ocean gives it its smooth taste. I think they only move the barrels around warehouse once maybe twice a year. Also go to the R&D tab at http://jeffersonsbourbon.com/ then click on explore the voyage.
From Distiller "Jefferson's released their first (very small) batch of ocean-aged bourbon in August 2012 with only 300 bottles for sale. This third batch has slightly more bottles to sell (about 300 barrels, rather than bottles) and was released in October 2014. Each batch has varied in time in barrel and time at sea along with the proof. The sourced bourbon is initially aged on land for six years before spending a further 6 months at sea. It traveled to five continents and crossed the equator 4 times before bottling."
I don't like me enough to splurge $90 on a bottle ... but I enjoy reading about you guys that do ... and daily for some (ok, well maybe one)!
I hear you about spending $90.00 on a single bottle of Bourbon. Had the bottle I have not been given to me as a gift, I certainly would not have bought it. But I must admit, it is some good stuff and I will be very tempted to buy another bottle after I finish "sipping" on this one!
I am sure I am not saying something everyone doesn't know, but the fine bourbons I only drink about 3 oz at a time and over the course of an hour or more. After that you taste buds have really left you and I go to a lease expensive bourbon and place it on the rocks.
Tonight's review is Rock Hill Farms by the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Rock Hill Farms is not an expensive bourbon but it is hard to find. It is a single barrel bourbon bottled at 100 proof, no age stated on the bottle but most believe it be around 8 years old. Not overly dark in color, has a sweet & spicy smell that does not necessarily translate in to the taste. The taste was smooth, not as smooth as the Jefferson's Ocean, but a very nice substitute at a lower price.
If anyone is traveling and finds a bottle in the $45-$60 range, please pick it up and I will gladly pay you for it.
