Yes the original one downtown. The one in Dallas off of 75 south of 635 is not bad as well.

Pliny is probably the godfather of the top-tier Double IPAs, a trend setter. Definitely still an excellent, top-tier beer.

However, I personally think Parish's Ghost in the Machine (especially the juicy Batch 5) is actually better than Pliny. But...everyone's tastes are different.

If you haven't tried a fresh bottle of Clown Shoes Space Cake, be on the lookout soon. I think you'll find it up there with Pliny as well.

As for the above thought of working out a deal with RR to try out their distribution in Louisiana, my understanding is they can barely keep up with demand in their home state of California, and I think they try to keep some of their stuff on the shelves in Nevada and Colorado. They would have to make huge investments in their production to increase to levels to distribute in new states.

Trust me, the enthusiasm for craft beer in the Houston-Austin-Dallas areas is HUGE. I'm sure RR knows their stuff would fly off the shelves out here, but it really doesn't make since for them to try and distribute out here when the demand is still so great close to home.

Was GITM batch 5 the latest one? I thought the most recent was a tad bit better than the one just before.

Cool to hear your opinion on how it stacks up against Pliny.

Hit the one downtown. It is great. I call it the Walmart of liqueur. I went to one in Dallas and it was wine only. They have a great website as well to check inventory at each store.

Batch 5 came out in May, just prior to American Craft Beer week. Batch 6 is the latest and came out in August. I haven't had a chance to try that one yet. Batch 7 will be coming out on Grand Reserve day next month. They're releasing GITM Batch 7, the new Grand Reserve, the new Imperial Reserve, and the 2014 Grand Reserve aged in Four Roses barrels.

ETA: From what I've been told, the new Batch 7 of GITM will be very similar Batch 5

Tried the Neapolitan the other day. One of the best dark specialty beers I've ever had. Very smooth and definitely reminded you of Neapolitan ice cream.

    Bumping the beer thread.

Had Cajun Brewing's Cajun Wit the other evening. Very nice beer. Nice balance. I love a good, unfiltered beer. Try it if you get a chance.
