No...overlooking an entire career because of 20 at bats... Ok, did you see the 20 at bats? Or just assuming he didn't do anything with them? like sac bunts and sac flys to help us win a regional?

2 huge odds against all ball players:
    1) Actually making the majors
    2) If leaving school early in Trahan's case: returning to school to finish degree

For Trahan, he has opportunity to go "grind" it in the minors no matter the pick OR possibility to be a 3 x All American, 3 consecutive Super Regional Appearances, realistic opportunity to make the College World Series and do all that with a degree in hand at the end. And should all that happen, possiblity that his name and number be next to Ron Guidry's on the centerfield wall??

If I'm him, they can keep that $100,000 pre-tax bonus (assuming he now doesn't get more than that).

As a senior, you have no leverage. Luc did okay from the 3rd round. BT will be alright.

Slot money (signing bonus) for pick #76 is $801,900. Pick #315 is $149,700.

Awesome. 1 player out of how many? It's not like he has them where he wants them. 8 others have gone at his position. He will still get offered whats considered good money, but to pass up the lifetime memories of achievements he could accomplish individually and as a team? If he's good enough to make the majors after 3 years of college ball, he can make it after 4 and more than recoup that leverage you speak of.

The grind is the same if u a first rounder or third rounder. It only affects your pocketbook.

Agree, that's why I suggested its the same no matter where he's picked.

I can't help but think his poor hitting in post season isn't helping him right now.
