His stock did not drop after being one of the best power hitters in JC and I guarantee he doesn't think it's dropping. He was drafted lower in all likelihood because he asked for more money and signability was low bc he's coming here with 3 years to play and 2 more draft chances
I don't understand Trosclair. But I am VERY pleased he will likely be a Ragin Cajun next year!
Here's the deal:
Sensley was drafted in thhe 38th by Tampa with the Rays knowing what it will take to sign him. They'll hope to negotiate him down over the next 3-4 weeks. If they are unsuccessful, he will be here. BTW, he will be a junior.
I personally didn't expect Trosclair to be drafted. The scouts want to make sure he's competely healthy. Shoulder injuries are especially tough to come back from. They want to see a stronger arm. He still can't make a good relay throw from the outfield.
My only surprise was Thurman wasn't drafted. He had a lot of interest from teams.
It would have taken a LOT of money to sign Lee, Harris or Ray.
Jay, I'll put a little different spin on Tosclair. I'm shocked he wasn't drafted just bc he WAS coming back from an injury. I know he wasn't 100%. He had a big year injured. Maybe the thought process is he will never be 100%, idk
His throwing ability is an issue that needs to be proven.
Hopefully Sensley is getting good advice from people around him, I think a couple of years with our staff and he could be 10th- 20th round, depending on performance of course.
From what I'm told by someone who played with him at lsue....he's got got his things in order. School is important.
