Thread: Interesting point!

    Default Interesting point!

Jay mentioned yesterday, I think, that in every SR we have been in, the team winning the first game lost the next two. Food for thought if it is true.

    Correct.
1999: Lost to Rice (won game 1) in the Astrodome
    2000: Beat S. Carolina (lost game 1)
2014: Lost to Ole Miss (won game 1)

The game 1 winner has lost every Super Regional we've been in.

Nobody is winning the series today

Crazy thing is: 77% of the time, the game 1 winner advances.

Our experience has been quite different.

Let's win today and tomorrow and leave that behind.

23% of the time, it works every time. At least in our case.

Yes ... but not 77% of the time when the series goes three games.

Hypothesizing here ... our super regionals (three to date) have all gone three games ... very competitive. I would venture to say that if you looked at a statistically significant sample, you would find that the winner of Game 2 tends to win the series more than not when there is a third game (it always wins if it goes two). I also believe it may be by a significant margin. Momentum plays a real role here.

Interesting. But that would require research, and it's Saturday. LOL

If we can get past Lange with a win tonight, book your tickets to Omaha.

---Might even find a higher % of the game 2 (with Mo) winners winning the 3rd if on a home venue!!!

I agree. That's why I personally believe our only shot is to win in two. And that ain't happening.

If it goes to a 3rd game we are doomed.
