Thread: Timeline for the new Tigue

  1. UL Baseball Timeline for the new Tigue

Anyone know for sure when construction is supposed to begin? I hope it can be done before next season and we can host another regional.

Well let me be the first to squash your hope. No major renovations will be done before next season.

It will not be done before next season. Some renovations will be completed before next season, but the major work, replacing the grandstands, will not start until after next season.

I would expect lighting work, dugouts, and possibly repositioning the bleachers could be done before next season. JMO

By Farmers words they were to start after this season. It would not be completed. They would resume the construction at the end of next season. First would be the location of the lighting and the padding of the out field wall. But I will caution on the side of not holding your breath on anything being done anytime soon. If they start within the next month or so I would be elated to say the least........

That is consistent with what I was told and I trust my source.

I would be shocked. Considered the architects and UL are still fiddling with the preliminary plans I wouldn't expect to see work for months.

The outfield wall and lights are separate from the rest of design and thus the reason they can get done in this off season. With that said we probably will not see that for a while. We've got eight months and neither project will take anywhere close to that long.

    Padded wall I believe

The lights and wall dont need to be done the day after the season ends. Those parts of the project are shorter duration tasks that can be done once the plans are finalized

Somewhat true. The location of the light poles will impact where you can build/add on to the existing bleachers, so not necessarily separate. If you consider moving the lights as Phase 1 and the grandstand reno as Phase 2, then Phase 2 has a chance to begin after next season. The biggest part of the Phase 1 design, the stadium lighting, is at no place yet that would warrant construction in the coming months. But like you said, the project isn't an 8th month long project, so there is still time to get things done.

Regarding the renovations to the grandstand. I assume the chairs in the grandstand will be removed and replaced with something a lot nicer that folds and has drink holders (like Lamson).

What are the plans for the old seats that are being removed from the Tigue? I sure hope they don't end up in a dumpster. I think some fans, myself included, would be interested in getting a few (or a row) of those chairs just for the nostalgia of it. I think they could sell/auction some of those seats and give the money to the baseball team.
