We faced some pretty solid pitching last weekend against Rice and Houston. Can anybody tell me who has the better pitching?

LSU ERA is 10th in the country. Houston was 13. Rice was 31 and the Cajuns are 42. Now ERA isn't the whole story but I still give the upper hand to them.

Bottom line is runs will be at a premium for us in this series. We need smart baserunning and descipline at the plate.

LSU has two really good starters... one being more dependable than the other. The bull pen is where they're vulnerable. It isn't uncommon for them to get into late relief and run one pitcher out after another... partly trying to match a batter... but mostly due to the game to game hot/cold pen pitching. They've lost most of their losses this year after having the lead late in the game. They're pitching staff is solid, but they can struggle to close out a game. We'll have to keep the game close and jump on every opportunity. They're extremely good at the plate and defensively. Their outfield is very fast, but none have a big arm. We can move base runners on long fly outs. We need to be smart at the plate... as if that isn't always true. LSU can fly on the base pads. Every time they score, not just their crowd will try to get in our head... the players love to act like they just stole your girlfriend. We have to keep our young heads focused.

Our best matches LSU. We just need to play our premium stuff and not let the situation or the atmosphere get into our heads. I think we should play loose. We're playing in the bonus right now.

We bunted players into scoring position in the regionals. I expect we will this weekend. Before the regionals, we did pass up some small ball opportunities. But Robe knows when/where/why to bunt.

Saw him bunt a runner to 2nd with one out (so now there were 2 outs) and thought, "That was dumb!"

I've watched quite a few LSU games this year and have seen Lange and Poche a few times each. I was really impressed with Lange and if he has his control, he will be extremely tough to beat (not unlike Romero was). Poche is a different type of pitcher, not overly impressive but his D makes him much better.

My honest opinion is that it will be extremely difficult to beat Lange. But I think we have a legit chance to beat Poche. And if you get to Monday, anything can happen

If we lose to Lange...I don't think we see poche until Monday IMO
