Actually, I think that the host team can decide which game that they play in. They were talking about it on 1420 this morning. And Skip Bertman always wanted the 1st game of the 1st day. He wanted to increase his odds of winning by winning the 1st game and having a longer rest period. You can't control what happens in the 1st game, i.e. rain delays or extra innings. So, if you're in the 2nd game, you have a shorter rest period if you win. Yes, fans want the prime time game, but he said his job is to win the regional as best as he can. I can agree with that. We lucked out that Houston wanted the night game. If you think about it, our game almost went into extra innings if we hadn't scored 1 more.

So do you agree or disagree with letting host choose, or should ncaa make things more consistent? They claim ncaa controls regional, doesn't seem like it then
The host earned the opportunity to decide when they play on day 1. After that the tournry is set in stone.
Thanks, have we ever had a baseball scholarship thread? It has been alluded to in some other threads, maybe we could work on this as a summer project after the season....specifically the use of alleged academic scholarships by the big boys to avert the ncaa limit.... I read that David price famously had an academic scholarship, but he said in an interview he only had a 2.6 GPA???
