We had a more dynamic freshman. He put the ball on the ground too often, and Zoe took over. He was later run off, allegedly for locker room theft.

Your talking about Quinn Griffin who actually got moved to linebacker and played D more than O. He was at LB at the time of his dismal. Mongrel Carter was the opening day starter at RB that season but went out with a season ending injury against Lamar.

According to the caption under the picture we have a true freshman defensive back handing the ball off to Pierce. I knew I had good reason not to subscribe to this paper.

I think you make a point in that a 240 RB has never been the norm for us. But, as much as I'm interested in personnel articles, I don't want to "replace" Zo. It's vastly more important how Jay/Hud mix the 11 on the field into action than who spells Elijah in the ground game. I don't want as much dependence on the ground and pound. This isn't the year for it. We could get a kicker to carry the ball between the tackles if we operate this offensive set of talent correctly.

Although "untested"... it looks like we should have no worries with kicking and punting.

Except when a true freshman comes out to kick the game winner at Kentucky on his first FG attempt.

And then he plants...kicks...good. Cajuns win times 6 from Jay. Guy is a hero. Profit.

    MONGREL

1: an individual resulting from the interbreeding of diverse breeds or strains; especially: one of unknown ancestry

2: a cross between types of persons or things

I doubt his mother would appreciate the nickname.

One does not simply arm tackle this kid. If healthy he will be a stud.

Because he fumbeled too often, not his running ability. You're correct about Carter, but in my mind from day one Zo was the man.
