  1. Default Five questions, five answers

Q: Will Georgia Southern repeat? The Eagles flew high in their first year in the Sun Belt, going 8-0 while outscoring conference opponents by 19 points per game. But the rest of the league now has a year of film to dissect, and Georgia Southern is ...

If we beat Kentucky, that would be a shocker... okay, if you say so.

  3. Default The Ragin' Cajuns goals go beyond just winning the Sun Belt Conference

UL — In a departure from a recent trend, there won't be much major discernible change at Monday's Sun Belt Conference Media Day. The conference features the same 11 teams as last year, marking the first time since the 2011 season that the SBC ...

How many BCS wins does Hud have? Maybe not a shocker. But, we'll likely be double digit dogs.

Would you be shocked if we win? I mean totally floored? So basically you are saying we have no shot?

I would be surprised if we won, given past history and Kentucky is the first game. We have no "easy" warm up game this year. If our defense is well conditioned we can run man to man a lot more. Lot of unknowns for me, but you guys that attended the Spring game probably could alleviate some of my fears.

I have no idea how well matched we'll be for Kentucky. Historically, they aren't a team we cannot beat. But, they've started improving their focus on football. Hud has taken us into opening season contests against good to great teams... and not had us prepared for them. I'm extremely hopeful that this is one of his personal challenges and that he did a lot of thinking about what it actually takes to beat a good to great team. I feel he placed way too much stock in perfect execution of simplicity, great conditioning, and supreme hype. It may be time to be exceptionally creative offensively... and fundamentally normal defensively... and see how that goes.

Spring game was vanilla.. Our linebackers should be the best unit on this entire team

Precisely my take on this topic.. But I figured I'd give you the first crack at it. You've championed the "approach" all summer. I'll add that my surprise with a Win would be more about how good Kentucky will be rather than our not being good enough.

I did not like last years approach to the season, the team was viewed as experienced and I distinctly remember Coach Hud emphasizing that they placed a high priority on not getting anyone hurt, paraphrasing of course. I think this lead to a false sense of superiority and it failed miserably when LTUR came to town. Thankfully, they righted the ship quickly and we had a successful season. I agree in that the past 4 years, we've been slow out the gate, not looking very sharp, but beating fcs teams. Things can change, Coach Hud is still learning as a head coach, and improving. I really think we will be better defensively with the depth we now have and the coaching changes that were made, we have a shot at a big win. I wouldn't be totally shocked that we could win this type game so much as surprised we could do it so early in the season.
