Thread: UL uncertain on game one starting pitcher

  1. Default UL uncertain on game one starting pitcher

But UL baseball coach Tony Robichaux has plenty to weigh as he tries to decide who will start on the mound for the Ragin' Cajuns against Rice on Friday afternoon in Game 1 of the NCAA Houston Regional.

Good problems include huge tax bills and which ace to start game 1.

if we get through game one will be the key. Momentum and having our ace in second game vs winner of UH and Houston Baptist.

    I can't see a scenario where it's not Evan G

    Me too.

I think it's between Guillory or milhorn and I'm leaning towards Guillory because he is probably most rested.

Wyatt threw more recently then Evan, and threw more pitches.

One day difference (Evan Friday, Wyatt Saturday in game 1). Number of pitches wouldn't matter since they have had adequate rest. For the record, Evan threw 110, Wyatt threw 109.

I think it basically comes down how the coaches feel about the matchup, either Guillory or Marks. Even though Milhorn and Bacon both have started, I dont think they'll go with one of those ahead of one of the normal weekend guys. Plus you can bring one of those in for long relief if we dont get off on the right foot

Tony said on his radio show last night he'll continue to monitor the pitchers for soreness and also look at the scouting report to see if there's a pitcher that matches up better than the others.

I agree. Marks appears a little more consistent than Guillory at this point, but Guillory has become a lot more consistant. It may be a crap shoot.

I would not be surprised if his name is Milhorn

I wouldn't be surprised but after listening to tony I think he kind of likes having milhorn and bacon available in the pen for long relief. I think it's between Guillory and marks, they are both hard throwing righties and both are true freshman. But Guillory is on an extra day and only had 1 apperance compared to marks 2. Logic tells me Guillory but marks getting the nod wouldn't shock me.
