Any Recruiting News?

_ CajunT... from watching the recruiting thing over the last few years or so, I would bet that if one or more of those BCS schools had offered him and really worked to get him, that in and of itself would probably have bumped him up to a 2 star. Its kinda funny at times to watch the stars system.

Also... compliments for keeping the Cajuns commitments up to date on SCOUT. I just checked RIVALS and they have the Cajuns with "4" commitments instead of the 14 we actually have. _

Go to FoxSports and under college football teams, all recruiting news on Cajun team page comes from the Cajun RedZone. They do screw up stuff sometimes by putting Tech news on our page, but for the most part is good for the program.

Is it just me or is this shaping up to be a pretty solid class by our standards. Not to mention that Houston Bates is supposedly reconsidering his LSU commitment to come here for more playing time. W could have a pretty nasty defense by 2011. Let's hope this all works out and these guys play up to their abilities.

We fix it by taking in Jelani Smith as a transfer and signing one more HS LB. Half the solution is accomplished. We lost out a HS LB from Texas this weekend to Baylor.

Jelani Smith will have to sit out a year. That is OK as Fleming and McCoy will be seniors in 2010.

While I'm encouraged, I also have some doubts. Arguably, one of our best pickups in James Butler may not even make the grades and a grayshirt may be a possibility. We just lost at least one DE hopefully for just the spring but there is uncertainty there and while we got 2 solid WR's, we didn't get some of the guys we were really high on and trying to get. We also didn't upgrade the OL like I thought we could this year and haven't gotten a truly solid QB prospect as of right now. While we did get Kevis Streeter, we now don't know what to expect until the summer because he won't enroll this spring. We have, thus far, been unable to get another RB to help build for the future and that is also a concern. IMO, this is a very unexciting class with the exception of a JUCO and a transfer.

I understand what you are saying, but the JC's will make or break this class. Smith, Pryer, Stokes, Streeter and maybe several more on the defensive side of the ball. The QB prospect may come by the end of the week. But we won't need him for two years. We won't need most of the HS recruits to play this fall. How we finish the next few weeks will define this class. Don't forget Robert Walker, along with Streeter will provide help at the RB position.
