Will Kyle be back with us during football season? I do wish Joshua all the best.
This is great
Congratulations BWK! Now we need to locate and add a link to the Pearl River message board. I bet that thing will blow up now!!!! LOL.
I need to warn Pearl River... if they ever have a "white-out" game... Kyle likes to wear a big nasty terry cloth white-yellow bathrobe he stole from a Howard Johnson's 33 years ago.
Good luck, Josh.
Good luck. Now go fulfill your destiny.
Congrats to the Bristers!
We appreciate the well wishes from our friends. But I want to set the record straight on this story. No one hooked us up with anything. Joshua had to go out & compete with 200 other guys for one scholarship opening. And anyone who knows the scoop on Mississippi Junior colleges, knows it's harder for an out of state offensive lineman to receive a scholarship to a Mississippi Junior college than it is to get one from a division one program. He earned this scholarship opportunity by beating out a lot of other good football players on the field. I was there that day. I know what happened, & how it happened. I also saw first hand the other guys on the team come up to him & tell him how glad they'd be to have him play on their team.
So the question about living up to his potential is already answered in my mind. My son has lived up to his potential almost every single dayof his life since he's been a teenager. No one has been harder on him than me, and no one has been as critical of his performances as I have. And no one knows, & understands him more than I do. I watched him take a 16 pound shot that he never laid eyes on in his life until last February, and take that shot without any coaching last season except for the Zennon kid from VC. And I watched him through hard work & dedication go from nothing to the state meet finals. He had the second best throw in that event, but fouled when put his foot on top of the board after his throw had already landed.
And I watched him set his personal best of 360 pounds on the bench press the other day improving some 70 pounds over his high mark from last year. You don't do those kinds of things if you're not already living up to your potential. I also watched him retake the ACT test of his own valition. And improve his qualifying score which was already high enough to get into just about any university in the country because he wanted to be the best STUDENT athlete he could be. I didn't ask or urge him to do this. He did it on his own without any advice from anyone.
Barring injury, in two years my son will be one of the most coveted linemen in the United States. And I know this. I don't know it because some A hole wannabe who runs a scouting site says so. I know it because I know my son. And I know he's plenty p!$$ed off about the way he was looked at because of the class of football his high school played. And I know he's got @$$ whipping on his mind. And I know how determined he is. And I know that his critics while not being excited about him going out to hurt his competitors & humiliating them , can't point out a single time when he was ever dominated, or humiliated by any three, much less one, or two other men the whole time he played in high school.
