Thread: UL softball was supported long before sport gained popularity

  1. UL Softball UL softball was supported long before sport gained popularity

It's the signature song that best describes the sentiment.

In 1981, Barbara Mandrell released the single, "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool."

Ironically, the UL softball program began that very same year under the direction of Yvette Girouard.

You can't measure the importance of the Advertisers coverage during those early years.

Even when RP was first started in 2002, softball stories from the SI department were delayed.

    So glad things have changed.

I don't believe Lotief's comments or this article were done by accident. We are playing a "big money" program this weekend. A program with very little NCAA tournament or softball history who threw a bunch of money at a successful coach to jumpstart their success.

    I agree.

Nothing Mike says is without deeper meaning.

I hope our experience serves us in that regard. I think it will. It was the first thing that I thought of when I heard that it was Auburn's first SR.

These guys didn't exactly scorch the Earth this weekend, either. I'm not scared. If we're composed and under control, we're going to sweep. They can't pitch like stearns. 101st ERA. I'm with Mike. I like this matchup.

"but it still does my heart good when I hear a 'Dorsey Steamer' reference,"

I was thinking about Dorsey the other day while watching the game, wondering how many bases she could steal in today's game... In the late 80's, if she was on first, you could count on her being at third two pitches later.
