Randell Daigle's three-point make with 1:14 remaining as the shot clock was expiring created enough cushion for Louisiana to hold off North Texas and snap a five-game losing streak. The basket came after North Texas' 22nd and final turnover of the game and were the final three of 28 UL points scored off of Mean Green miscues.

North Texas' 22nd turnover of the game led to a Randell Daigle three-point make that helped Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns gain enough cushion to post a 74-72 victory over North Texas Thursday evening at the Cajundome.

White's turnover came at 1:49 on an offensive foul called with NT trailing 66-62. The Cajuns (5-10, 2-2 Sun Belt) found Daigle as the shot clock was winding down and he buried a 22-footer at the top of the key that extended the lead to 69-62 with 1:14 remaining.

The Mean Green (9-6, 2-3 Sun Belt) would cut the lead to 72-70 following a Josh White triple with 12 seconds remaining. UL finished off the win with a pair of Daigle free throws one second later.

The win ended a five-game losing streak for Louisiana and improved the record vs. North Texas in the Cajundome to 10-2.

Tyren Johnson led the Ragin' Cajuns with 20 points. He was joined in double figures by Chris Gradnigo (18) and Daigle (14) as UL had three double figure scorers for the first time since the Tulane game (Dec. 21).

NT placed five scorers in double figures led by George Odufuwa's 15.

The telling stat of the game was the Ragin' Cajuns' 28-5 advantage in points off of turnovers. UL forced NT into 22 turnovers - the third time in the last four games the opposition had 20-plus.

The Ragin' Cajuns scored the game's first six points before two minutes expired. A Johnson fadeaway at 13:43 put UL's lead into double figures, 12-2.

A 7-0 Mean Green run was capped off by a three-point play from Richard Thomas at 11:19 and the Cajuns lead dropped to 12-9.

Steals on back-to-back possessions inside of nine minutes led to fastbreak baskets by Travis Bureau and Johnson that pushed the Cajuns advantage to 19-10 by the 8:15 mark.

UL's lead would grow to 15 points, 25-10, on a Johnson basket at 5:02. NT would another three-point play from Thomas, this time at 4:04 to bring the score to 25-15.

A pair of Gradnigo scores in the three-minute mark helped the Cajuns extend the lead out to 14 points, 29-15.

Defense was solid for UL in the opening stanza, holding NT to 8-of-23 shooting (34.8%) and forcing 13 turnovers. The Cajuns produced 17 points off of Mean Green turnovers, half of the squad's first-half total.

A slow start to the second half by the Cajuns allowed the Mean Green to close within single digits. An offensive rebound and then putback by Odufuwa at 15:40 cut the UL lead to 38-30.

Tristan Thompson sank a pair of freebies at 11:05 to lower the UL lead to 42-39 - the closest the Mean Green had been since the 11:19 mark of the first half (12-9).

The Cajuns scored seven of the game's next nine points to extend their lead to 49-41 with 9:33 left.

Out of the seven-minute media timeout the Cajuns gained breathing room with a 5-0 run keyed by a Gradnigo tripled at 7:15 and Lamar Roberson basket at 6:31 that increased the lead to 56-47.

Louisiana takes a week-long break from game action as the next game isn't scheduled until Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Cajundome against current Sun Belt West Division leader Denver. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
