    Default UL BasketBall Best Coaches

Head Coach Butch Pierre, Assts: Paul Johnson, & Brad Boyd

I think Butch Pierre would bring UL back to the glory days. With Assistant coach Paul Johnson, who is the best recruiter we could possibly get. I also think Brad Boyd should be signed on as an assistant coach because of his experience, and how he can relate to players in the city of Lafayette.

    HEAD COACH - BUTCH PIERRE

ASSISTANT COACHES - PAUL JOHNSON, BRAD BOYD

    Come on Cajuns! Let's Go!!!

    Paul Johnson brought me in.
I don't think that sounds like a bad coaching line-up. And since y'all left a vacancy for the fourth position, I'll take that spot... Haha just playin

I suspect MoutAn is Ross Mouton. If that is a correct guess, please confirm.

Coach, you're tickling my ego...I'll tell you who would needs to brought over, the guy who taught me how to shoot...Butch "Shadow" Shed...He was my dad's next door neighbor in San Antonio...everyone knows the history b/c of "Glory Road", but the guy is awesome...Taught me and my 2 brothers the tricks of the trade, he went on to to win a championship with the Celtics after Texas Western. He's the director of Intramurals at UTSA; I haven't talked to him in 20yrs. I never coached outside of YMCA and BCI (TX version of AAU), but I had a good time. My only playing experience is in the Air Force and playing 1 year for a SMALL dutch team in Appledoorn, Holland while I was stationed at Soesterberg (The best kept secret in the military). I absolutely loved playing with the dutch guys, they can all shoot and are absolutely fundamentally sound. We had two seven footers, 6'9'' and 6'10'' forwards, and no one under 6'5'' (except for me...5'11''). I had to be quick and pop that jumper. EVERYONE COULD SHOOT and knew how to move without the ball (my little pet peeve). A little secret...if you're American you can find a team overseas...I was just your average player, but I love the game...

This is the man that should have been a head coach...Neville "Butch""Shadow" Shed...This is type of character and teacher that UL needs to bring in for the men's team (we already know who we need for the women's)...

    http://www.nevilshed.com/Bio/bio1.html

Awesome man and a great teacher...I was about 15 getting private lessons from Butch at UTSA and I was blown away by his size...6'8'' is big for a 15 year old...he made me go through shooting drills without the ball to focus on form and told me to start playing with the college guys...I didn't realize he coached for UTSA and as an assistant for Don Haskins at TX Western...I'm white and was an intimidated young teen playing with an all black gym (which at the time was awesome to me)...I never had the opportunity to play with older players, much less college caliber. It was a great experience and opened my eyes to basketball He told me that "they were just basketball players" and at the time I didn't realize what he went through to just be a basketball player. A really impressive guy...OK I'm done. My good ole' days...
