Notice these two comments in the paper. Few people care any more about UL basketball. This is exactly what happened to UL football under Baldwin. Losing, no attendance, a student body that could care less, and total apathy by the community while both men's and women's bball programs continue to sink into the abyss. Yet, no action taken and not a word from our President or AD. All of this just continues to perpetuate the perception of UL as just a statewide regional college performing at the same level (or lower) as all the others.

Are things so bad that nobody even bothers to comment anymore - like we've already thrown in the towel on this season, and are just waiting for a coaching change before anybody shows any interest again?
1/6/2010 9:20:55 AM Here's one. Would the paper please stop putting the picture of Lee with that stupid smile in the paper? There has not been anything to smile about since he was hired. The only way his picture would look better is if they put the idiot's picture that coaches the women's team next to him. Please include David Walker in any exit package along with these two coaches since they are all jokes. crawman
We all seriously threw in the towel last year. Can't wait till next year.

I have an idea I would like to throw out for some thought / discussion. What if we staged a "Bring back the good old days" campaign. I suggest having people come out for the UNO game on Thursday, January 21st with the idea / message to the administration that we are showing the support for UL Basketball that is there, just waiting for a positive change.
This in my opinion could be a very positive message being sent to our administration. With a good crowd, which hasn't entered the Cajundome this year, AND the administration knowing we are there primarily to show them the difference in this year's support and what would be there for good basketball. See the difference between saying and doing is that if we show up and they know why we showed up, the administration then KNOWS we will support a good program. You could even quantify the cost difference in attendance (as some did estimate last year) as to justify why a change must be made.
Why the UNO game? It is also to mark the end of an era against them, at least while they are still Division 1.
What say you, good idea ... crazy ... not worth the effort? I say if it is not worth the effort for us, then why should they make the effort.
The fans are plagued by poor Coaching woes. It's a vicious cycle.
The vicious cycle is created by our administration. A good idea in showing what our fan support would be like next year without Coach Lee would somehow likely be interpreted as everything being OK now. I don't know what it takes for these knuckleheads to realize basketball, both men's and women's, is in the toilet. Women's fbball can be fixed NOW, by bringing in Coach Hall. He will recruit now for next year and just watch the immediate turnaround. Once the spring semester is started and all men's players are enrolled, UL should let one of the assistant's take over for the rest of the year, then open it up for a new coach. THAT would at the very least tell everyone that the administration, President and AD, understand the concerns and are taking action to correct. As these players are in school, I don't understand why the APR would be impacted one way or the other if Lee is not the coach, but someone can correct me if that is wrong.
The Funny thing is There was no plague until Robert Lee became Head Coach. We used to never lose at home. I think if I remember correctly at one time we had one of the longest win streaks out of any DIV 1 program in the country at the Cajundome. Robert Lee is the Plague.
Was the University Admin too stupid to see that by retaining Lee this year, they have brought UL Basketball to one of its lowest levels in history. No one cares, no one reads the articles, no one goes to the games. What signal does this give to the whole state. The whole State just thinks we are a Joke.
we need to have as many people at the next couple of games as possible ---these will be the times when our football recruits will be present!!!! Please help the cause!!!!
