I was sitting directly behind home plate today and it was impressive how Marks located and worked both sides of the plate. He was not afraid to locate on the inside corner against the bigger Texas State bats (including Studdard). The Bobcats also struggled with his slider. Impressive outing for the freshman.

Kudos to Clement. I always knew he had it in him
Think about it. We just won a series with 3 freshmen as our starting pitchers. Not bad.
The future of Ragin Cajun baseball is bright.
Just a comparison to other freshman pitchers in the past (that I could find stats on). Not saying all of these guys will end up where the past guys did, but these are extremely impressive freshman season, especially to have all of them at once.:
Marks - 4-0, 3.29 ERA, 27.1 IP, 35 K, 7 BB, 2 starts, 1 sv
Guillory - 3-0, 4.22 ERA, 39.0 IP, 39 K, 12 BB, 10 starts
Leger - 4-2, 3.63 ERA, 57.0 IP, 43 K, 15 BB, 10 starts
Moore - 3-1, 1.88 ERA, 28.2 IP, 24 K, 9 BB, 4 sv
A Robichaux (12) - 2-4, 2.91 ERA, 43.1 IP, 21 K, 11 BB, 9 starts, 1 CG
J Robichaux (07) - 3-1, 5.47 ERA, 24.2 IP, 19 K, 6 BB, 3 starts (38 gms in field)
Farquhar (06) - 6-1, 2.17 ERA, 62.1 IP, 55 K, 20 BB, 6 starts, 4 sv
Moody (05) - 2-0, 4.08 ERA, 57.1 IP, 47 K, 21 BB, 8 starts
Ardoin (02) - 2-3, 4.60 ERA, 45.0 IP, 40 K, 14 BB, 3 starts, 6 sv
Gros (00) - 3-2, 3.12 ERA, 43.1 IP, 40 K, 9 BB, 6 starts, 1 sv (excludes NCAA postseason)
That be some good research there
And of course, you take it with a grain of salt because we've had other good freshmen at times that didn't pan out as expected necessarily in the long run. But from listening to Coach Freeman talk about each of those guys tonight on the radio show, about their individual strengths, it's hard not to be really excited
Health is always a big concern with pitching. If these guys stay healthy they will have lots of wins.
